Funny videos about Americans
Let's see how Bush rules the United States, the most powerful country in the world:
No wonder the world is in a mess.
How could Americans choose such a president? Here is a part of the answer:

I (should not!) blog alone
Recently, I noticed that those were fewer and fewer comments on the blog... So in order to prevent the bloggers of the week to become like the guy in the following video, please let them some comments to thank them for their job ;) (when their post is really awesome, don't hesitate to ask for their paypal account :p)
Sound effects
As incredible as it can sound, sound has a great influence on us in many ways: physiologically, psychologically, cognitively and behaviorally. Here is a video that describes how it works:

Jon Lajoie
Jon Lajoie is the actor that sung the birthday video. He has a video channel on Youtube on which he puts funny songs and fake commercials.
The League
There's a new tv show on FX which is funny... and stupid. The League is about a group of friends who play Fantasy Football.
While the theme is completely lame, it's really funny to see how this useless game is driving their lives. Fortunately, at some point you almost forget that it is about fantasy football, and you just keep rolling on the floor laughing your ass off.
Here is a sample of the first episode. Sung by Jon Lajoie

The "Food Court Musical" is also pretty good, as is "Frozen Grand Central"... Have you seen them before? Here is a subtitled version of the Food Court Musical (on the dotsub.com site).

"Improv Everywhere causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places. Created in August of 2001 by Charlie Todd, Improv Everywhere has executed over 85 missions involving thousands of undercover agents. The group is based in New York City."This site is pretty interesting because you also have the background and behind-the-scenes information.

"The work of engineers is the link between perceived needs of society and commercial applications" (Wikipedia)
Do you like music? Yes, everybody needs music. This engineer-to-be is aware of that and brings you exactly what you need... along with a free dancing lesson.
Beware! You WILL fall off your chair.

YouTube - Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole 'IZ' 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' HQ
Dear Friday students,
This is the song we looked at and listened to on Friday....
"Over the Rainbow" is a famous song, first sung by Judy Garland in "The Wizard of Oz"
(Maybe you hate this kind of music... you can tell me in the comments below!)
Here are the lyrics in a little quiz format....
http://abceda.com/rainbowgar.htm
You could open them in a separate window and fill them in as you listen.
This, of course, is my favorite version of the song.... with Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
Here's the original with Judy Garland, in "The Wizard of Oz"!
Here's a slow, romantic version, sung by Leona:

"Joachim de Posada says, Don't eat the marshmallow yet"
This is the TedTalk that we watched at the end of class, with the secret of success!
(You can watch it again with the English subtitles now.)
You might enjoy looking at the lady with 12 legs... or the Ken Robinson talk about "Why schools kill creativity!"
I'm looking forward to the postings of our bloggers of the week: Yoni and Tristan. See you next week.

Welcome!
Welcome to the Serbian-Sculpture Friday English Class Blog!
I'm happy to see that almost everyone in the class is now a member...
And I've made you all administrators of the blog! It's yours!
Question:
WTF? Translation: What on earth is a class blog good for?
Answer:
This where the different members of the Friday group can share web sites and YouTube videos that they think are interesting, worthwhile, legen--read-my-lips--dary and not too lame!
(And maybe good for improving your English!)
For example: www.rocketboom.com
Remember:
When someone makes the effort to post something it's considered good netiquette to comment on it... interesting? funny? lame?
(When someone posts something on the blog, we'll all get email from the blog with the link included in the post but also with a link back to the blog. Go back to the blog to leave a comment.)
All the members of the class are admins of the blog, for now it's a public blog but maybe we should limit access to just the class members... what do you think? You have the power to change that in the settings.
Do it! Don't be a lurker.
See you on Friday.
